For the Strawberry Filling
  • 2 lbs strawberries (sliced) Bring the sweetness of summer.
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch Thickens the strawberry juices.
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar Enhances the strawberries' natural flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds aromatic essence.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add in the cubed butter and work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Press the mixture together and transfer it to the freezer.
  4. Slice the strawberries and place them in a separate bowl. Add the cornstarch, sugar, and vanilla extract. Toss gently to coat.
Assembly & Baking
  1. Arrange the strawberry mixture at the bottom of an 8-inch baking pan and sprinkle the chilled crumble topping over the strawberries.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes, or until the juices are bubbling. Cover with aluminum foil if the topping darkens too quickly.
Serving

Notes

Use farm-fresh strawberries when in season for the best flavor. Feel free to experiment with other berries and add oats or nuts to the crumble for added texture.
