Preparation
- In a bowl, combine flour (start with 4 cups), yeast, olive oil, salt, and sugar. Mix for about 5 minutes using a dough hook.
- If sticky, gradually add more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
- Knead the dough until it is soft and stretchy. If kneading by hand, do so on a floured surface for about a minute.
- Divide the dough into equal halves.
- For storage, drizzle olive oil over the dough and place it in a bowl. Refrigerate or freeze as needed.
Cooking
- Roll out the dough to your desired thickness on a clean surface.
- Preheat the oven to the highest setting, around 550°F. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat.
- Add your favorite sauce and toppings to the rolled-out dough.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 8 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a more developed flavor, chill the dough in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. Prepare multiple dough batches and freeze for quick access. Experiment with herbs in the dough mix for added flavors.
