  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adds a hint of caramel flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract Elevates the flavor profile.
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and cooled) Adds creaminess to the filling.
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt Enhances the other flavors.
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves The crunchy, nutty stars of the pie.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Roll out your unbaked pie crust to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Transfer it into the pan and crimp the edges as desired.
  3. Line the inside of the crust with foil and fill it with dried beans or pie weights. Bake for 8 minutes and then let it cool slightly after removing the foil and beans.
Making the Filling
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until frothy.
  2. Whisk in the maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, melted butter, and salt until well combined and smooth.
  3. Fold in the pecan halves gently.
Baking
  1. Pour the filling into the prepared crust and bake for 50-60 minutes until the filling is set but slightly wobbly in the center.
  2. Let the pie cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use high-quality pure maple syrup. Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing for the best texture. Consider adding a teaspoon of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
