Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 medium to large sweet potato (washed) A sweet potato exudes a creamy texture and delicious sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil This golden oil enriches the potato, adding a touch of aromatic flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt Infuses the potato with flavor, enhancing its natural sweetness.
  • ¼ teaspoon ground pepper Adds a subtle warmth and depth.
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter Melts beautifully into the flesh for a decadent finish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Use a sharp fork or knife to carefully poke holes all over the sweet potato.
  2. Drizzle the potato with olive oil and massage it into the surface.
  3. Season the potato with salt and pepper while massaging the spices into the skin.
Cooking
  1. Place the potato on a microwave-safe plate and cook on high for 4 minutes.
  2. Check the potato’s texture; it should not feel mushy. Flip the potato over and microwave for another 2 minutes.
  3. If it’s still firm, microwave for an additional 2 minutes until fork tender.
Serving
  1. Slice the potato in half, add a tablespoon of butter in the center, sprinkle with additional salt and pepper, and enjoy.

Notes

For an even richer flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg to the butter before mixing. For crunchier skin, broil for a minute after microwaving. Use uniform-sized sweet potatoes for even cooking.
