Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes (about 1/2 inch) Juicy, tender chicken bites that absorb the flavorful glaze beautifully.
  • 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil (or canola oil) A shimmering layer of oil that adds moisture and enhances flavors as it heats.
  • Salt and black pepper Simple seasonings that elevate the dish and bring out the natural flavors of the chicken.
For the Glaze
  • 3 tablespoons honey Liquid gold that delivers sweetness and a hint of stickiness to the chicken.
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce The umami-rich ingredient that adds depth and a savory edge.
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced) Aromatic garlic that infuses the dish with its intense flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) A hint of spice that can be adjusted to suit your heat preference.
For Serving
  • Brown or white rice A comforting base that soaks up the glaze beautifully.
  • Sliced green onions, sesame seeds, chopped peanuts, lime wedges (to squeeze over chicken) These garnishes add vibrant color, crunch, and freshness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by heating your extra-virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should shimmer but not smoke.
  2. While the oil is warming, lightly season your cubed chicken with salt and black pepper.
Cooking
  1. Once the skillet is hot, add the seasoned chicken pieces. Let them brown on one side for about 3-4 minutes without stirring.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, low-sodium soy sauce, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. Turn the chicken pieces over to cook the other side. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and toss to coat evenly. Allow the chicken to cook through for 4-5 more minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve your succulent honey garlic chicken over a bed of steamed rice. Don’t forget to sprinkle with fresh green onions, sesame seeds, and chopped peanuts, alongside a squeeze of fresh lime juice.

Notes

Marinate the chicken in honey and soy sauce for 30 minutes before cooking to deepen the flavor. Consider adding vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas for a nutritious twist. If you prefer a different sweetener, agave syrup or maple syrup can work in place of honey.
