Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Offers a fluffy and soft foundation
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Adds a delightfully light texture
  • ½ teaspoon salt Enhances the overall flavor of the dish
  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper Introduces a subtle kick to each bite
Wet Ingredients
  • ¾ cup whole milk Lends creamy richness to the dough
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter Brings a luxurious, buttery flavor that ties everything together

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and freshly cracked pepper. Stir these dry ingredients well to evenly distribute the flavors.
  2. Create a well in the center of the dry mix, then pour the creamy whole milk and melted butter into this well.
  3. Gradually stir the flour mixture around the well until it forms a cohesive dough, which should feel soft and slightly sticky.
Cooking
  1. Using a medium-sized cookie scoop or a tablespoon, take portions of the dough and shape them into small balls.
  2. Carefully add these dumplings into a pot filled with bubbling broth, spreading them out to allow room for expansion during cooking.
  3. Once all the dumplings are in the pot, give them a light stir to ensure they are covered with the broth.
  4. Cover the pot and let the dumplings cook for 15 to 17 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until they are fluffy and cooked through.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding fresh herbs like parsley or chives to the dough. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or in broth.
